Sympoiesis is a photographic inquiry into nature that rejects romanticized landscapes in favor of a critical, multispecies perspective on the Anthropocene. Drawing on Donna Haraway’s and Josef Beuys’ concept of “making-with,” the work explores  non-hierarchical connections between humans and other life forms through
analog darkroom processes that transform documentary images into surreal,  often unsettling visions.

Landscapes and vegetation photographed on negative and slide film are  subjected to analog manipulations: double exposures, inversions, hand-coloring, and light leaks. Black-and-white negatives exposed onto color paper yield images that are at once seductive and threatening, their material distortions serving as metaphors for the violent transformations humans impose on the environment.

The project seeks to reveal connections beyond the material presence of things—the discrete forces and subtle functionalities that shape the world beneath the surface. Sympoiesis operates as both critique and proposition—a visual meditation on becoming-with across species boundaries, offering psychological, political, and philosophical perspectives on our parallel, invisible habitats and coexistences.
