Peter Hauser is an educated Swiss photographer and artist based in Zurich, who works with analogue and camera-less photographic techniques. He still is running his own darkroom where he dedicates his time to handmade printing and experimenting with alternative photographic processes (e.g. cyanotypes, photograms, chemigrams, ...). Hauser's works revolve around illuminating and extracting contemporary issues and developing narratives in relation to our environment and existence. The experimental works, which are also created without the use of a camera, mainly deal with abstractions, colours and shapes. They are more contemplative in nature and encourage prolonged meditation and introspection.
In 2007, Peter founded Püré Bildmagazin, a self published fanzine in which he finds a platform to publish his photography. Beside various exhibitions in his home country and abroad, he was nominated for the “Swiss Federal Design Awards” twice (2012 & 2016). His first monograph “Hello, I am not from here” was awarded “The Most Beautiful Swiss Books 2016”. Peter attended Lucerne Art School (HGKL), the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KABK) in The Hague and the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) from where he graduated in 2010.
